"
Murphy"
4/4/00 -
Murphy's foster home reports: "Murphy is doing great with us in his foster home. He loves to play
with both of our other boxers. He sometimes goes a little too far and they put him back in his place. He wants so badly to play all the time. He
is a wonderful people dog. He wants to cuddle and give you all the loving that he can. He thinks that he is a 45 pound lap dog. This is okay to
us we just sit on the ground cross legged and he curls right up in our lap.
Murphy is okay with the cats so far, however at this point I would not trust him alone. He thinks that he can play with them the same way that
he can play with the dogs. However, when the cats turn and tell him to get away he does listen and move on his way with his head down looking
like he just wanted to have some fun. We are crating him in a HUGE crate at night only because he does not yet understand that bed time means
that everybody needs to be quiet. He is slow to go in and needs to have a treat (chew toy) thrown in before he will go in. However once he has
the toy and is closed in he is fine for the night. We are doing well with house breaking we made no mistakes today, however, we were outside
for more than half of the day. He is starting to learn his name. He responds to it about half of the time. There will be updated pictures
to come soon."
3/9/00 - Murphy is a male Boxer that the vet estimates to be 1 1/2 years old. He is white with a patch over his left eye, and has natural ears and tail. He weighs about 45 pounds, but is very underweight. He was brought to a shelter by people who claim to have found him. When he arrived he could not walk. He was suffering the affects of being kept confined in a small space (maybe a tiny crate) for an extended period of time. He slowly regained the ability to stretch his limbs and neck. He still walks a little odd at times, but this should get better with more exercise. The fur on his body is discolored with urine stains, and the bottom of his feet are irritated as well. His tail has a small lump in the middle that was probably caused by the tail being broken. Despite his ordeal, he is a very affectionate loving dog that is starved for attention. We will be reporting more about him when we get to know him better. Murphy deserves better than he has known, and we will do our best to find him a new life with people who will make him happy.
