"Sir
Coolness"
This dog has been adopted but has
not yet completed the two week "trial period" in it's new home. Should the
placement prove to be a poor fit for dog and/or family, he/she will be moved to
the AVAILABLE section on the Available Dogs page.
3/28/00 - Sir Coolness, a.k.a. "Cool"
Cool has arrived at his foster home, and is having a great time. He has a minor thyroid condition that
has been taken care of by a medication he takes once a day. The condition is not serious, Cool just
needs to be given his pill on a daily basis, or else he will start to gain weight and have some hair loss
on his lower back. Otherwise he is better than ever!
I think this paragraph written by his foster dad gives a good look into what Cool is all about:
[Cool just had a terrific run on Main Beach. He ran in and out of the surf and made big loops on the sand.
He was running at the beach for about 2 hours and made alot of friends. He's really happy with other
dogs to play with and seems to need at least an hour of hard running a day. I thought that the 20 minutes I
gave him in the dog run in the city was good but now I see that he has alot more stamina, maybe its the
thyroid medicine kicking in. He is getting very comfortable in my house and now he goes out to the yard without having to keep me in
site. I notice that as he gets comfortable he is taking more time to come when I call him etc. but its not a
problem, he just knows I'm not going to get mad. Before we left the beach I made him quiet down and catch his breath for about 20 minutes, then wiped his
mouth thoroughly so we did not have a slime problem. When he got home and had a good long drink I did the same and has been drool free. This seems to work - but I have to have the time to cool him down and standby, not always possible.
Its a bother but he is clean and good in all other ways - he doesn't hassle me for food from the table, he
doesn't have accidents in the house, he's very smart and avoids problems i.e.: if the leash get caught
under his leg he gets himself untangled, he doesn't stop to mark alot, etc---- but he does snore louder than
I do. He really hates dry food, I even bought Eukaneba (sp?) on advice of the pet store person but he still wants
50% canned food mixed in so I am doing that.]
If you want a perfect dog- perfectly trained, wonderfully mannered, wants to please- then Cool may be the
one for you. If you don't want to be slimed, then forget it...Cool does have a minor slime problem- when
running, excited or nervous. When he is calm in the house, no drool. A single paper towel will do the trick
after a run or an exciting event. Believe me, with all the great things Cool has to offer, Cool drool is
miniscule!

3/3/00 - Sir Coolness is in need of a new castle! He turned 5 years old on New Years Day! Cool gets along well with other dogs and children. His owners are having a new baby and feel they can no longer keep him. He is up to date on all vetting and his vet says he is a fantastic dog that does not have an aggressive bone is his body!!
