"
Tommy"
Tommy is very sweet. He adores human companionship and seems to be especially fond of men. He is very careful when taking treats from your hand and walks well on his leash but he doesn't recognize even the simplest commands, such as sit. He is very attentive, however, so it will not be very hard to train him. He has already starting coming when my husband whistles to him from another room. He has had no accidents since the first night he came to our home. He rarely barks even when my other dogs alert us to someone pulling into our driveway. He relaxed around our house all weekend and has just been an angel (My husband’s new nickname for him). It takes him a few minutes to calm down when put in his crate, but after that he’s fine. He gets along with my other 3 male dogs most of the time, but he tends to be domineering, which causes altercations occasionally. He has not paid much attention to our cats, but it is too soon to tell if he would be suited to a permanent home with cats. He is just a really sweet dog who will make someone very happy when he is adopted.
Tommy has a slight heart murmur so he is scheduled to see a heart specialist for an echocardiogram on Tuesday. We want to make sure there is no major problem with his heart before having his neuter surgery.
Tommy is a rather petite boy...probably no more than 50 pounds. He is a bit underweight, but he is eating well and should fill out in no time. We will have more to report once he settles into his foster home.
If you are interested in giving Tommy a great new home, please complete an online application and email the rescue group listed below.
